ISRO and IN-SPACe Unveil Space Technologies for the Automotive Industry at Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center (IN-SPACe) showcased advanced space technologies with transformative potential for the automotive sector at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025.

Intending to drive innovation and self-reliance in the industry, ISRO presented 43 cutting-edge technologies, including imaging sensors, gyroscopes, accelerometers, pressure sensors, noise suppression systems, and specialized coatings. These technologies promise to reduce dependence on imports and align with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat by enhancing the safety, performance, and sustainability of vehicles. IN-SPACe and the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) co-hosted a session titled “ISRO Technologies for Automotive Sector,”, where experts from ISRO’s centers, such as the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre and the Space Applications Centre, discussed the adaptation of space-grade technologies for automotive applications. They emphasized fostering collaborative pilot projects between research institutions and automotive companies.

Dr Rajeev Jyoti, Director of the Technical Directorate at IN-SPACe, highlighted the significance of transferring ISRO’s technologies for localized production of advanced components like sensors. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to cross-sector collaboration, leveraging space innovations to drive advancements in India’s automotive industry.
